Many of our students are government officials from abroad who are on Japan Development Service (JDS) fellowships. As a part of the program, JDS provides many events and programs for participants to network and build cross-national professional ties. JDS Fellows gathered for a 3 day Pre-return Program in Tokyo!
The JDS Pre-return Program was held from 28 February to 1 March in Tokyo. JDS fellows who were studying across Japan were able to get together for the first time since their joint orientation upon arrival in 2020 and 2021.
They learned from 3 active alumni about how to apply the experiences in Japan after returning home and the significance of JDS thorough a webinar panel discussion.
For the in-person program, they participated in “Journey Towards Gender Equality” by Ms. SAITO Mariko, Gender Action Platform, “Leadership Training” by Mr. YOSHINO Kenya, GLOBIS University and “Challenges & opportunities: IF YOU WERE JAPAN’S PRIME MINISTER” by Dr. TANIGUCHI Tomohiko, University of Tsukuba. They also had an opportunity to discuss on alumni activities with cohorts and learned about their subsequent journeys as JDS alumni.
In the evening of 29th February also should be highlighted as the JDS Government Leaders Networking Event was held with 335 participants. Japanese government officials and JDS fellows enjoyed their accompany for the future collaboration.
Please welcome the new batch of returnees this Autumn and explore the next chapter of JDS journey in your country together! Japan is enjoying the early spring with Sakura blossoming in the blue sky.
