Environmental Management Trip

On July 22, 2024, our environmental management class took a field trip to Hiroshima Station to observe firsthand the progress in its main building’s remodeling. This visit showcased plans for a new station building and plaza.

The new station building will rise 20 stories high with one basement level, housing a variety of shopping and dining options, a cinema multiplex, and a hotel. Trams will conveniently enter and exit the building at the second-floor plaza, directly connecting to the station’s central ticket gates and Shinkansen gates.

During the trip, students witnessed advancements in constructing the Viaduct of the Ekimae Ohashi tram line at Hiroshima Station. They also learned about future expansions of the station and tramline aimed at easing city traffic congestion.

This excursion was part of our environmental management curriculum, designed to expose foreign students to Japan’s experiences in environmental development among economic growth. It aims to impart practical knowledge beneficial for sustainable development in developing countries, focusing on urban and transportation engineering, energy science and technology, risk management and technology, and biological science.
